2Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are come into the land of your habitations, which I give unto you,
2"Speak to the people of Israel and tell them: When you finally enter the land that I am giving you to live in,
3and will make an offering by fire unto Jehovah, a burnt-offering, or a sacrifice, to accomplish a vow, or as a freewill-offering, or in your set feasts, to make a sweet savor unto Jehovah, of the herd, or of the flock;
3and you bring an offering made by fire to the LORD—whether it is a burnt offering, a sacrifice to fulfill a special vow, a voluntary gift, or an offering at your appointed festivals—to create a pleasing aroma to the LORD from your herd or flock;
4then shall he that offereth his oblation offer unto Jehovah a meal-offering of a tenth part of an ephah of fine flour mingled with the fourth part of a hin of oil:
4then the person bringing the offering must also present to the LORD a grain offering. This should be about two quarts of fine flour mixed with one quart of olive oil.
5and wine for the drink-offering, the fourth part of a hin, shalt thou prepare with the burnt-offering, or for the sacrifice, for each lamb.
5With each lamb for the burnt offering or sacrifice, you must also prepare one quart of wine as a drink offering.
6Or for a ram, thou shalt prepare for a meal-offering two tenth parts of an ephah of fine flour mingled with the third part of a hin of oil:
6If the sacrifice is a ram, prepare a grain offering of four quarts of fine flour mixed with one and a third quarts of olive oil.
7and for the drink-offering thou shalt offer the third part of a hin of wine, of a sweet savor unto Jehovah.
7You must also present one and a third quarts of wine as a drink offering. This will be a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
8And when thou preparest a bullock for a burnt-offering, or for a sacrifice, to accomplish a vow, or for peace-offerings unto Jehovah;
8When you prepare a young bull as a burnt offering or a sacrifice to fulfill a vow or as a peace offering to the LORD,
9then shall he offer with the bullock a meal-offering of three tenth parts of an ephah of fine flour mingled with half a hin of oil:
9bring with the bull a grain offering of six quarts of fine flour mixed with two quarts of olive oil.
10and thou shalt offer for the drink-offering half a hin of wine, for an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor unto Jehovah.
10Also bring two quarts of wine as a drink offering. This is an offering made by fire, a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
11Thus shall it be done for each bullock, or for each ram, or for each of the he-lambs, or of the kids.
11This is how it must be done for every bull, every ram, and every lamb or young goat.
12According to the number that ye shall prepare, so shall ye do to every one according to their number.
12You must do this for each animal, no matter how many you prepare.
13All that are home-born shall do these things after this manner, in offering an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor unto Jehovah.
13Every native-born Israelite must follow these rules when bringing an offering made by fire as a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
14And if a stranger sojourn with you, or whosoever may be among you throughout your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor unto Jehovah; as ye do, so he shall do.
14And if a foreigner is living among you, or anyone else is with you in future generations, and wants to bring an offering made by fire as a pleasing aroma to the LORD, they must do exactly as you do.
15For the assembly, there shall be one statute for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you, a statute for ever throughout your generations: as ye are, so shall the sojourner be before Jehovah.
15The community must have the same rules for you and for the foreigner living among you. This is a permanent law for all your generations; you and the foreigner are the same before the LORD.
16One law and one ordinance shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.
16The same law and the same regulations apply both to you and to the foreigner living with you."
18Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land whither I bring you,
18"Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When you enter the land where I am taking you,
19then it shall be, that, when ye eat of the bread of the land, ye shall offer up a heave-offering unto Jehovah.
19and you eat the food produced in that land, you must set aside a gift for the LORD.
20Of the first of your dough ye shall offer up a cake for a heave-offering: as the heave-offering of the threshing-floor, so shall ye heave it.
20Present a loaf from the first of your dough as a gift, just as you present a gift from the grain on the threshing floor.
21Of the first of your dough ye shall give unto Jehovah a heave-offering throughout your generations.
21Throughout all your generations, you are to give a gift to the LORD from the first of your ground meal.
22And when ye shall err, and not observe all these commandments, which Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses,
22But suppose you unintentionally fail to obey all these commands that the LORD gave to Moses—
23even all that Jehovah hath commanded you by Moses, from the day that Jehovah gave commandment, and onward throughout your generations;
23everything the LORD commanded you through Moses from the day he gave the commands and through the generations to follow.
24then it shall be, if it be done unwittingly, without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt-offering, for a sweet savor unto Jehovah, with the meal-offering thereof, and the drink-offering thereof, according to the ordinance, and one he-goat for a sin-offering.
24If the mistake was made by the community without them realizing it, the whole community must offer one young bull as a burnt offering for a pleasing aroma to the LORD, along with its prescribed grain offering and drink offering, plus one male goat as a sin offering.
25And the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and they shall be forgiven; for it was an error, and they have brought their oblation, an offering made by fire unto Jehovah, and their sin-offering before Jehovah, for their error:
25The priest will make atonement for the whole community of Israel, and they will be forgiven. It was an accident, and they have brought their offering made by fire and their sin offering before the LORD for their mistake.
26and all the congregation of the children of Israel shall be forgiven, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; for in respect of all the people it was done unwittingly.
26The whole community of Israel and the foreigners living among them will be forgiven, because all the people were involved in the unintentional mistake.
27And if one person sin unwittingly, then he shall offer a she-goat a year old for a sin-offering.
27If only one person sins unintentionally, that person must bring a year-old female goat as a sin offering.
28And the priest shall make atonement for the soul that erreth, when he sinneth unwittingly, before Jehovah, to make atonement for him; and he shall be forgiven.
28The priest will make atonement before the LORD for the person who made the mistake, and once atonement is made, that person will be forgiven.
29Ye shall have one law for him that doeth aught unwittingly, for him that is home-born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.
29You must have the same law for anyone who sins unintentionally, whether they are a native-born Israelite or a foreigner living among you.
30But the soul that doeth aught with a high hand, whether he be home-born or a sojourner, the same blasphemeth Jehovah; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
30But anyone who sins defiantly, whether native-born or a foreigner, insults the LORD. That person must be cut off from their people.
31Because he hath despised the word of Jehovah, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.
31Because they have despised the LORD’s word and broken his command, that person must certainly be cut off; they must bear the guilt of their own sin."
32And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks upon the sabbath day.
32While the Israelites were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.
33And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.
33Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses, Aaron, and the entire community.
34And they put him in ward, because it had not been declared what should be done to him.
34They kept him in custody because it wasn't clear yet what should be done to him.
35And Jehovah said unto Moses, The man shall surely be put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.
35Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man must be put to death. The whole community must stone him outside the camp."
36And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him to death with stones; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
36So the whole community took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
38Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of each border a cord of blue:
38"Speak to the Israelites and tell them: Throughout your generations, you are to make tassels on the corners of your clothing and put a blue cord on each tassel.
39and it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of Jehovah, and do them; and that ye follow not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to play the harlot;
39You will have these tassels to look at, so you will remember all the LORD’s commands and obey them. This will keep you from following the desires of your own hearts and eyes, which lead you to be unfaithful to me.
