1Bless Jehovah, O my soul. O Jehovah my God, thou art very great; Thou art clothed with honor and majesty:

1Praise the LORD, my soul! O LORD my God, you are very great; you are dressed in glory and majesty.

2Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment; Who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain;

2You wrap yourself in light as if it were a robe; you stretch out the heavens like a tent curtain.

3Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters; Who maketh the clouds his chariot; Who walketh upon the wings of the wind;

3He sets the beams of his palace in the waters above; he makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.

4Who maketh winds his messengers; Flames of fire his ministers;

4He makes the winds his messengers and flaming fire his servants.

5Who laid the foundations of the earth, That it should not be moved for ever.

5He set the earth on its foundations, so that it can never be shaken or moved.

6Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a vesture; The waters stood above the mountains.

6You covered the earth with the deep ocean like a garment; the waters rose above the mountains.

7At thy rebuke they fled; At the voice of thy thunder they hasted away

7At your command the waters fled; at the sound of your thunder they rushed away.

8(The mountains rose, the valleys sank down) Unto the place which thou hadst founded for them.

8The mountains rose and the valleys sank down to the places you assigned for them.

9Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; That they turn not again to cover the earth.

9You set a boundary that the waters cannot cross, so they will never again cover the whole earth.

10He sendeth forth springs into the valleys; They run among the mountains;

10He sends springs pouring into the ravines; they flow between the mountains.

11They give drink to every beast of the field; The wild asses quench their thirst.

11They provide water for all the animals in the wild; the wild donkeys drink there to satisfy their thirst.

12By them the birds of the heavens have their habitation; They sing among the branches.

12The birds of the sky nest beside the waters; they sing among the branches of the trees.

13He watereth the mountains from his chambers: The earth is filled with the fruit of thy works.

13He waters the mountains from his home above; the earth is satisfied by the results of his work.

14He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, And herb for the service of man; That he may bring forth food out of the earth,

14He makes grass grow for the livestock and plants for people to farm, so they can bring forth food from the earth:

15And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, Andoil to make his face to shine, And bread that strengtheneth man’s heart.

15wine that makes the human heart skip with joy, oil to make their faces glow, and bread that gives people strength.

16The trees of Jehovah are filledwith moisture, The cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;

16The trees of the LORD are well-watered—the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.

17Where the birds make their nests: As for the stork, the fir-trees are her house.

17There the birds build their nests; the stork makes its home in the fir trees.

18The high mountains are for the wild goats; The rocks are a refuge for the conies.

18The high mountains belong to the wild goats, and the rocky cliffs are a hiding place for the rock badgers.

19He appointed the moon for seasons: The sun knoweth his going down.

19He created the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows exactly when to set.

20Thou makest darkness, and it is night, Wherein all the beasts of the forest creep forth.

20You bring darkness and it becomes night, the time when all the forest animals prowl around.

21The young lions roar after their prey, And seek their food from God.

21The young lions roar for their prey, looking to God to provide their food.

22The sun ariseth, they get them away, And lay them down in their dens.

22When the sun rises, they slip away and lie down in their dens to rest.

23Man goeth forth unto his work And to his labor until the evening.

23Then people go out to their work and continue their labor until evening.

24O Jehovah, how manifold are thy works! In wisdom hast thou made them all: The earth is full of thy riches.

24O LORD, what a huge variety of things you have made! You created them all with wisdom; the earth is full of your creatures.

25Yonder is the sea, great and wide, Wherein are things creeping innumerable, Both small and great beasts.

25There is the ocean, vast and wide, teeming with countless living things, both small and large.

26There go the ships; There is leviathan, whom thou hast formed to play therein.

26The ships sail there, and there is the Leviathan, which you made to play in the sea.

27These wait all for thee, That thou mayest give them their food in due season.

27All of these creatures look to you to give them their food at the right time.

28Thou givest unto them, they gather; Thou openest thy hand, they are satisfied with good.

28When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.

29Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; Thou takest away their breath, they die, And return to their dust.

29When you turn your face away, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to dust.

30Thou sendest forth thy Spirit, they are created; And thou renewest the face of the ground.

30When you send out your Spirit, they are created, and you make the face of the earth new again.

31Let the glory of Jehovah endure for ever; Let Jehovah rejoice in his works:

31May the glory of the LORD last forever; may the LORD find joy in everything he has made.

32Who looketh on the earth, and it trembleth; He toucheth the mountains, and they smoke.

32He looks at the earth and it trembles; he touches the mountains and they pour out smoke.

33I will sing unto Jehovah as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have any being.

33I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have breath.崩

34Let my meditation be sweet unto him: I will rejoice in Jehovah.

34May my thoughts be pleasing to him, for I find my joy in the LORD.

35Let sinners be consumed out of the earth. And let the wicked be no more. Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Praise ye Jehovah.

35May sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked disappear forever. Praise the LORD, my soul! Praise the LORD!
